Foyer

The large foyer is centered between the living room and the dining room. As one enters the home through the glass double doors, there are two mortar-covered brick closets with space for a consul table in between. The closets are part of a brick wall “spine" that divides the front rooms of the house from the remaining living areas. The dramatic, angled redwood ceiling hovers over the brick “spine” wall but does not rest on it, creating an airy, floating effect. The large skylight overhead is nearly 20 feet high and provides ample light for the house throughout the day. Special filters on the skylight prevent the transfer of heat into the home in summertime.
